Aerotech Flying Model Rocket Accessory 18-38mm RMS Delay Drilling Tool AER RDDT
The Aerotech RMS Delay Drilling Tool is used to shorten the delay time of the RMS and RMS+ delays used in the Aerotech reloadable motors. In this way, you can achieve parachute deployment at the perfect time during the flight. Basically, it is used to drill a hole to a predetermined depth into the delay element (called the delay grain). The deeper the hole, the shorter the ejection delay. The tool is set to remove 2, 4, 6, and 8 seconds from the delay.
With this tool, you shorten the delay time to get it to the best one for your rocket. The tool works with all sizes of standard Aerotech reload motors, because the diameter of the delay grain is similar in all of them. Therefore, it works for 38mm, 29mm and 24mm motors! It will even work in the Aerotech "Loadable" motors if they have not yet been assembled.
Note: This will NOT work with the Aerotech High Power Single Use motors, nor the EZ-reloads.

Delay Drilling Tool Instructions

Alright
It’s not intuitive and the instructions didn’t really explain how to use it, just how to calibrate it. This is typical Aerotech: giving you way more information than is necessary in a non-intuitive way. I prefer the CTI drill tool way more, but I acknowledge it’s not compatible. It did the job though. You may need to check some sites or videos to make sure you’re using it right.
